The appointment

So the appointment was not that big deal but at the same time a super big deal. We have jump through some hoops to have my medical records sent to the midwife and get a form signed so that the sperm place will ship the sperm to the office but other than that we are good to go. We could start trying this month but that would mean that we would really have to rush in picking a donor and getting the money together. So we have decided that it is best to wait. Even though it is hard. So we are that much closer to having a baby (but is kind of seems like the same place as yesterday). Baby X we are coming I promise.

Moving right along...

Tomorrow is the big day. Sue and I go for our first meeting with the midwife. It is just a meet and greet and if we like her we will set up another appointment. Since we plan on starting inseminating in October we really need to get going so that we are ready. If we move forward with using the AIGB then we will make an appointment where we really get a plan and go over my health history ect.

Next on the list is making a choice for a donor and having a back up list. This is exciting, fun and really odd at the same time. While you try not to concentrate on looks it is hard. There is so much to choose from so you have to hang your hat on something. If you go by family health then you really don't have much difference between donors. Everyone seems to have heart disease and cancer and hell if Sue and I could combine our genetics to make a child as we would if we weren't two chicks then our child would have plenty of bad health genes from either of us. So I guess if we want our child to be like us we should choose someone with similar family health profiles. I guess we have are going with height (we need some tall genes to counter act my short ones) blue eyes (so our kids have some chance of blue eyes like Sue) and athletic ability (once again to counter act my inability to throw a ball). So all we need to do is find a tall, blue eyed jock donor with swimmers to sell. Wish us luck.

Fun with Fertility Friend

So this month I started taking my temps and charting. I have actually been doing quite will. I was originally going to keep track on excel but switched to fertility friend since it seemed so much easier to use. I take my temp when the alarm goes off in the morning and since I never get up when the alarm goes off I listen to NPR while the thermometer does its job and then write it down on the paper on the night stand. I was originally using the memory on the thermometer but it always reads 97.7. The first day I remembered my temp to be 97.41 but then when I went back to check it said 97.7. I thought I just was asleep and read it wrong. When it happened again on day 2 I realized it was the thermometer and not human error. It feels good to be actually doing something productive towards having a baby. Perhaps it will limit my baby gear obsession. I doubt it but it would be nice.

Not much progress

So I have done nothing on my list! I have however decided that I am going to go to my pcp for the follow up on my osteopenia. The more I thought about it the more I wanted to avoid the endocrinologist. My pcp is more likely to try to find a reason behind the low levels and fix that instead of just treating the problem. I don't want to take the biophosphate drugs since you can't be pregnant on them and well I really want that to happen so I think that is the best route for me. Now I just have to call and make the appointment.

I did have some quality baby time last weekend which will keep me going for a little while. Baby Sophie may just be the cutest kid I have ever met!

We are off to the Lake this weekend for Sun and set up! Can't wait!

Same day different post!

So now that I have jumped back on the blogging bandwagon I thought I would start with the time line and go from there.

If I had my way we would be ttc right now but alas my smart wife has us waiting until the fall to try and start. Although truth be told I think my dear wife really wants be preggers! But we need to get our finances a little more in line before we start the whole process of making this baby!!!

So the fall it is! I think we have figured out where we want to get the IUI done and it seems like we would actually be able to afford it. The sperm is of course the most expensive part of the process being about $500 a sample. That would make it about $650 for each cycle. It isn't nothing but I think we can swing it. It will mean that we will not be going out for dinner or taking a vacation this summer but if that is what it takes to make a baby then we are willing to do it. Once we have a baby we will not be going out to dinner or going on vacation again anyway so we might as well get used to it.

Here is my things to do list.

1. Make an appointment with the endocrynologist to see what the deal is with my osteopenia and whether this is going to effect my ttc.
2. Make an appointment with the Alternative Insemination of Greater Boston to get more info about what we need to do in preparation for inseminations to start in the fall.
3. Start charting this time for real
4. Take my prenatal vitamin, calcium and vitamin D

moving on

Ok so now that we are married and I have obviously failed at the wedding blog I think I will try out blogging about married life and trying to have a baby. Since Darwin and Drew have two mommies it can be assumed that baby x will also have two mommies! This of course makes the whole baby thing much more difficult and of course expensive. So here it goes. Hopefully in a year I will be changing this blog again to be a mothering blog. Cross your fingers.

Sorry to be so absent but my they actually want me to do my job!

Ok

So after a summer of relaxing (if you think being a nanny for a two year old and a 3 month old relaxing) I am back to my day job. The kids came back and everything including (god forbid) wedding planning was put on the back burner untill I could get everything in order and the 90 13 and 14 yearolds on the right page. So now I am back into the swing of things I think I will be less neglectful of the blog.

So anyway lots to update on the wedding front. First and formost I got my dress! Ok so I just ordered it but still I know what I will be wearing yeah! After visiting Yolanda's and LaReine close to home with limited sucess. I went on a whim to Christina's in Andover when I was home do my mother's grocery shopping on my day off last week. Well it was a fabulous experience! First and formost Mary who was helping me was just awesome. Since I was alone she zipped and unzipped me into about 25 dresses. She was very helpful and went back to the racks several times to find other dresses that she thought I would like. She gave honest advice and was so helpful. Christina's is a very nice shop and even though I was looking at bridesmaid dresses I was not treated like a second class citizen as I was at La Reine when I went to look at dresses. I will blog about that experience in the future, but today I would like to stick to the positve. Anyway after looking at many dresses I found about 5 that I thought were contenders and I called Mom to see if she could run out from work and check them out. We narrowed it down to 2 and then I decided on the one I liked best. So I have a dress! It is going to be all ivory but I am still throwing around the idea of having a contrasting sash so I may have the shop order an ivory and a blue or brown sash. It is a Waters bridesmaid style 9296 and has just enough poof to make me feel bridey but not too much to be overwhelming. Here is a picture.

Hee Hee, I get all giddy just thinking of it! It will be a little longer in the back so I have a small train and will have a french bustle after the ceremony!

Yeah another thing checked off my list. Now just to get Sue to get hers!
